#BuyPens began after Norwegian activist Gissur Simonarson posted a photo of a destitute Syrian man selling pens in the streets of Beirut, Lebanon, while carrying his 4-year-old daughter in his arms. Simonarson was able to find the man, identified as Abdul Halim, and has since set up a wildly successful Indiegogo for them.
This is very inspiring. But more importantly, why is no one talking about how Gissur Simonarson looks just like Abdul?
Tumblr feels isolating. I just moseyed over because my roommate and I are currently bonding by sitting on our respective computers occasionally speaking to one another, which I actually really enjoy which is why I’m not going to bed, so I just like popped my head in and instantly felt this heaviness in my chest just from being on here.
I didn’t even look at anything or go back through my own blog. I just scrolled through my dash, which is vastly different than it used to be because most people I follow dropped off and the people who didn’t have evolved and changed but I still just feel really isolated here.
There are a few people on my Facebook feed that graduated from Winona this past weekend and part of me is like, “That coulda been me too.” And then a bigger part of me is like “I’ve done better for myself here, where I am now.” And then there is a weird part of me that keeps whispering, “But have you really?”

Supposedly haunted by the 20 “witches” who were put to death in 1692 and 1693 during the Salem Witch Trials, Salem is a popular destination for those fascinated by the paranormal and morbid. Some of the “witches” are said to haunt the place they were hanged, Gallow Hills, while other supposedly haunt other areas in the town. One of the must see sights is the House of Seven Gables, pictured above.
